When should you replace stainless steel pans?
We recommend replacing your favorite cookware at least once every five years. If cooking utensils such as spatulas and spatula scrapers get caught in the grates of a vintage pan, it will more than likely rust and ruin the pan. Be sure to check your cast iron occasionally to look for rust spots. If you find any, we recommend performing a simple seasoning on the pan and reseasoning according to manufacturer's instructions. Steel wool and oven cleaner can ruin a cast iron skillet, so be sure that you don't use these abrasive materials when cleaning your favorite cookware.
Keep your cookware in good condition by caring for it properly. Stainless steel is a great kitchen surface because it will not leach chemicals into your food, nor will it warp. Regular cleaning with soap and water should be enough to keep your stainless steel at its best. If your pans are discolored over time, try placing them in a solution of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. If they are scratched, use a fine sandpaper or steel wool to smooth out the edges. By using this refresher process every 5 years, you can avoid having to replace your pans prematurely.
